Welcome to jessandersonstudio.com (the "Website"), operated by Jessica Anderson, trading as JA Studio ("JA Studio," "we," "us," or "our"). Our business is based in Australia and operates under Australian privacy law, including the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles.

This Privacy Policy explains how information is collected, used and protected when you visit the Website or contact us through it. By accessing or using the Website, you agree to the practices described below.

If anything in this policy is unclear, please write to us at hello@jessandersonstudio.com — we would rather answer a question than have you guess.

Information we collect

Information you choose to provide
When you submit the contact form, book a call, subscribe to our newsletter, or otherwise communicate with us, you may provide information such as your name, email address, phone number, business name, current website, project details, budget range, timing and anything else you choose to include in your message.

Please do not submit confidential or proprietary information through the Website unless you have an existing engagement with us, or have been asked to provide it.

Information collected automatically
When you visit the Website, certain technical information is collected automatically. This may include your IP address, browser type, device characteristics, pages visited, time on page, and the referring URL that indicates how you arrived.

In some cases, limited attribution data may be captured via hidden fields in the contact form — for example, whether you arrived via a search engine, a social-media link or directly. This helps us understand how visitors find the studio and improve the experience.

Cookies
The Website uses cookies and similar technologies to help analyse traffic, understand visitor behaviour and improve functionality. Cookies are small data files stored on your device by your browser. You may disable cookies through your browser settings — some Website functionality may not work as intended if you do.

Where information is stored
Contact-form submissions are sent to our email inbox (Google Workspace) and may also be stored in:
· Our booking tool — for call bookings
· Klaviyo — if you have subscribed to our newsletter
· Asana / Notion / Google Drive — for active client projects
· Xero — for invoicing once a project begins
· Google Analytics (or equivalent) — for aggregated Website analytics
Submissions are retained only as long as reasonably necessary for business purposes — usually 24 months for enquiries that do not proceed to a project, longer for active or past clients.

How we use information
Information collected through the Website may be used for legitimate business purposes including:
· Responding to enquiries and booking calls
· Preparing proposals and managing active client projects
· Sending the newsletter, if you have opted in (unsubscribe link in every email)
· Understanding how the Website is performing and where visitors come from
· Measuring marketing effectiveness
· Preventing fraudulent activity and complying with legal obligations
We do not sell personal information collected through the Website. Ever.

Sharing of information
We do not sell, rent or trade personal information to third parties.
Information may be processed by trusted service providers that help us operate the studio — including website hosting (Netlify, SiteGround), analytics, email marketing platforms (Klaviyo), CRM and project tools (Asana, Notion, Google Workspace), payment platforms (Stripe, Xero), and AI tools used in our work (Claude). These providers process information only as needed to perform services on our behalf, and are bound by their own privacy obligations.
Information may also be disclosed if required by law, legal process, or to protect our rights, property or safety.

Data security
We use reasonable administrative and technical safeguards to protect information collected through the Website — including encryption in transit, access controls on our tooling, and the principle of "the fewer people who can see it, the better." That said, no internet-based system is completely secure. If you are concerned about transmitting sensitive information, please email us first so we can arrange a more secure channel.

Your rights
Under Australian privacy law you have the right to:
· Access personal information we hold about you
· Correct information that is inaccurate or out of date
· Request deletion of information, subject to legal and business retention obligations
· Withdraw consent to receive marketing communications at any time
· Make a complaint to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) if you believe your privacy has been mishandled
To exercise any of these rights, email hello@jessandersonstudio.com. We will respond within 30 days.

International visitors
The Website is intended for visitors in Australia and globally. If you access the Website from outside Australia, information you provide may be processed and stored in Australia or in the country where our service providers operate (predominantly the United States and European Union). Privacy laws in these jurisdictions may differ from those in your country.
For EU / UK visitors, processing relies on the GDPR lawful bases of legitimate interest (for analytics and direct enquiries) and consent (for newsletter subscriptions and cookies).

Children
The Website is intended for business users and adult visitors. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 16. If we become aware that such information has been submitted, it will be deleted.

Changes to this Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices, technology or legal requirements. Updates will be posted here with an updated "Last updated" date. Material changes will be highlighted on the Website for at least 30 days.
Continued use of the Website after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
